I’m not looking to start a Valentine’s Day war, but the most romantic Valentine’s Day you can offer your loved one requires a trip to Rhode Island. Now, full disclosure is I live in the state, but no one asked me to write this, nor is this any form of a paid endorsement. It’s just the truth! I wasn’t born and raised here if that is any consolation. The littlest state in the Union, Rhode Island is a quirky treasure and home to the most romantic location you can bring your valentine to this February.
Nestled between the sand dunes of Watch Hill sits a historic five-star resort on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. With roaring fireplaces, wine and culinary experiences like no other, the Ocean House waits to take your Valentine’s Day to a level you’ve never imagined.
Any quick online search will tell you all about this luxurious hotel, it’s historically accurate restoration, and it’s homage to the golden age of hospitality. But what they don’t always share is the romance! Butler service, fireplaces, private terraces over the beach, and the feeling you’re in a different time and place will only spark that flame of love for you and your valentine.
Imagine a soak in your suites deep tub, and a glass of wine by the fire. You could do that anywhere you say? Why not choose to do it at one of only eleven Forbes triple five-star hotels in the world, with a spa, and two onsite restaurants with one helmed by a renowned chef that changes the menu nightly based on the seasons and local ingredients.
Ocean House offers farm-to-table cuisine, with the chance to learn new cooking techniques with their Food Forager in their Center for Wine Culinary Arts. When you’re finished, the two of you can take a tour of their art collection, guided by their in-house Art Curator. Of course, you can always retreat back to that deep tub with a new bottle of wine, selected with the help of the Ocean House Sommelier and the on-property 8,000-bottle wine cellar.
