Today is a big day for America. A new President is always a catalyst for change. Of course, change often comes with an unfortunate side effect: Fear.
Thousands of people are descending to Washington for the Presidential Inauguration. The city is buzzing with full restaurants, booked hotels and the excitement that accompanies such a historical event.
While there is a great chance tomorrow will be a beautiful day of all the right types of pomp and circumstance, we shouldn’t ignore the fact the risks associated with an administration change (civil statements, violent protests, or even witness an unfortunate act of terrorism). In fact, InsureMyTrip has received calls from attendees concerned with all the “what ifs” that could occur in the next few hours.
Travel insurance plans do allow coverage to offset the travel mishaps of terrorism and civil unrest. The right plan would include coverage for delays in travel caused by an incident. In fact, the right plan may also have an option for non-medical emergency evacuation. There are also plans that protect rental car costs from riot damage.
I’m not a gambling man, but I believe tomorrow will be filled with more political commentary than physical unrest. However, if you are attending and feel nervous, the right plan may offer comfort in knowing you would have options and help would be available to you if needed.
God Bless America, and enjoy this historical moment.
