Whether you’re just starting to think about where to go over Columbus Day weekend or you’re looking ahead to next summer, here’s a month-by-month guide from InsureMyTrip.com to help you decide where to go and when for nice weather, fewer crowds and seasonal deals.

October: New England

Hop in the car in October for a leaf peeping road trip when the fall foliage is spectacular across Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Even better, take in the panoramic views from Amtrak’s “Great Dome” car, which is available to passengers on the Adirondack line between Albany and Montreal on select fall days. November: Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the place to be in November when you can hike around nearby Valley of Fire State Park and Red Rock Canyon in cooler temperatures. Explore the Neon Boneyard, which is home to more than 150 neon signs, then enjoy a dinner cruise on Lake Mead to take in the desert stars. (Photo Source: Flickr/James Marvin Phelps)

December: New York City

There’s so much to do in New York City in December. See the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring The Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. Then go ice skating at Rockefeller Center under the shadow of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Be sure to stop by the Today Show window on the Plaza. (Photo Credit: Flickr/Dan)

January: Caribbean Cruise

Once the holidays are over, get out of town for a warm-weather cruise in the Caribbean. Even better, since January marks the start of Wave Season, you should find deals aplenty. Cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line for dance parties and pajama breakfasts with Nickelodeon characters, like SpongeBob SquarePants. (Photo Credit: Flickr/Corey Balazowich)

February: Costa Rica

Take advantage of dry season in Costa Rica with an adventure in February. Enjoy sandy beaches, lush greenery and wildlife reserves. Take time to zipline above Monteverde Cloud Forest at Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and hike Arenal Volcano before splashing in the beaches on the Caribbean coastline. March: Washington, DC

Enjoy early springtime weather in Washington, DC with visits to see the cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin and the ever-popular giant pandas at the National Zoo in March. Go to the top of the Washington Monument for panoramic views of the city, then take a spin on the National Carousel. (Photo Credit: Flickr/Dancingnomad3)

April: Paris april-paris
April in Paris, of course. Enjoy a ride in a bateau mouche, an open-air boat that cruises past such must-sees as Notre Dame and Musee d’Orsay. Try a guided bike tour across the city or simply relax on a deckchair at Jardin du Luxembourg. Stay up to watch the Eiffel Tower lights twinkle on the hour every evening. May: Cincinnati

Many of Cincinnati’s top festivals take place in May, including the beloved running festival referred to simply as “The Pig.” The Cincinnati Flying Pig attracts more than 40,000 people who come for fun runs, 10Ks and the big one, the Flying Pig Marathon. Another favorite is the annual Taste of Cincinnati. (Photo Source: Jennifer Prine)

June: Machu Picchu

Avoid heavy summer crowds by visiting Peru’s Machu Picchu in June. Book a guided four-day/three-night hike along the Inca Trail. Or, take the train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes and hop a bus to see the fascinating ruins. Hire a private guide when you arrive to learn the history of the ruins. (Photo Credit: Flickr/Jane D)

July: Canada

Head south to Cancun in August when you can swim with friendly whale sharks and watch as baby sea turtles make their way back into the ocean. Explore ancient Mayan ruins at Tulum and Coba, then fly over jungles and through waterfalls on ziplines at Xplor, Cancun’s popular adventure park. (Photo Credit: Flickr/dronepicr)

September: Walt Disney World

Dining in Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort serves up a magical experience for Walt Disney World Resort guests. As the monorail whizzes past, Chef Mickey joins other Disney characters as they greet guests, sign autographs and periodically lead diners in song and dance. The lively, all-you-care-to-eat buffet is offered for breakfast and dinner daily. Disney’s Contemporary Resort is located at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. For fewer crowds and dining deals, plan to visit Walt Disney World in Orlando in September. Buy park hopper tickets at a discount on a website like Best of Orlando. Look for a new evening show at Animal Kingdom, as well as an expansion of Norway at Epcot to include a Frozen meet-and-greet attraction. (Photo Credit: WDW)
